Special Family !!

The building has now been demolished but 20 minutes after the Diggers stop this special group of Peregrines come back in to their home . The most remarkable part is not only are both the birds coming in to sleep at night but the son they had in 2013 who was born on the roof of the building comes in every day as well where as a family they share food and hunting duties . The young male now starts to have his full plumage so its more difficult to tell them apart but his Dad has a ring and a long and illustrious past having famously lived in Brighton in a former life. Good luck to the family it will be interesting to see what happens in the spring.

Last weekend we went to France and had a little tour through the Dunes close to Gravelines there is a National Nature reserve close by and we were treated to views of six Spoonbills and three Marsh Harriers two of whom are in the picture below. A really lovely day!

Still Three!!

Sixteen months on from when he was born on top of the roof the young peregrine male still lives there with his mum and dad. Despite all the turmoil of the building project all three are still resident, and the young man is losing his brown juvenile feathers and  starting to look like a full adult. Amazing the family are still living in perfect harmony despite everything!! Well done to the whole family!

Time for a little sleep!!

All finished for the day when the demolition stops it only takes a very few minutes for the Peregrines to come back in and claim their rightful place as king of the castle. This of course means with the noise gone it’s time for a little sleep, not much bothers these resilient birds. It’s all in a days work!
